I run a cutting and fabrication studio in Carabanchel, Madrid. If you send work here, I am the person who reads your drawing, sets up the machine and checks the part before it goes out.

THE STORY
How the studio came about.
The workshop started as my own. I am a designer, and I needed to produce my own pieces properly, so the machines arrived and the space grew around what the work demanded.
The more it grew, the more obvious it became that what I had built for myself was what other people could not find. Not the equipment, that exists everywhere. What is scarce is someone willing to sit down with another creative and talk through what they are actually trying to make. Someone interested in the awkward problem, the piece with no obvious method, the thing that has not been cut before.
And in cutting specifically, almost nobody wants the small job. One offs, a run of five, a prototype that will change twice before it is right. Most shops would rather not. That is a good part of what I do.
Today the work sits somewhere between design, fabrication and the art world. I cut and build sculpture bases and artworks for artists, produce furniture and one off pieces, and take on architectural and prototyping work for studios around Madrid. Some weeks that means modelling and milling a complex piece in three hardwoods. Other weeks it is a single bracket someone needs by Friday.
The studio is local by intent. If you are in Madrid, you can come and see the piece on the machine. But none of the work is limited to Madrid. Larger jobs come from elsewhere in Spain and across the EU, and the process does not change.
How it works has not changed. You talk to me, not an account manager. If something in your file will not survive the process, I will tell you before we cut, and usually suggest a way round it. And when the part is finished, I am the one checking the edge before it leaves.
